NRL Fantasy recommendation - Buy Angus Crichton



Angus Crichton should be the first guy picked in your team and is an easy captain choice for this year. Crichton will cost you $833 000 which has him priced at his 2020 average of 62. He also has the very important dual position in MID/EDG.


Trent Robinson has made him bide his time to lock in that 2RF position for the roosters and with Aubusson and Cordner not on the scene he doesn’t really have any threats for his spot. I believe the bit of time he spent in the middle will only benefit his overall game, especially in both his work rate and defensively.


The big points that fantasy coaches are excited about though will be seen in his attack and we got a taste of this in his most recent trial against the raiders. In this game Crichton had 20 runs for 189 metres and 94 post contact metres. He had 9 tackle breaks, 1 line break, 1 line break assist and 6 offloads. He had a try assist and then almost scored himself but it was disallowed.


The crazy part was that this was all done in approximately 60 minutes of footy. If he was able to halve his 2 missed tackles and cut out his 2 errors which are something that go hand in hand with trial games and no footy for a few months, then all of a sudden Crichton is looking at 93 fantasy points. If he plays 80 minutes which we expect him to in the regular season then he is knocking on the door of the 100 club.


Crichton is in for a huge year and I don’t think he will be this cheap again. I have him pushing the 70 average and will battle it out for the top spot of fantasy players for 2021. Has to be in your team.
