Api Korosiau was one of the great pickups of fantasy 2020, with Korosiau moving from a 45 minute hooker at Manly to transition into an 80 minute gun at the Panthers. His ridiculously good season sees him come in at a price of $805k with a break even of 60.
Damien Cook was my starting hooker but after watching his electric trial against Parramatta, Koroisau has come into the line up and has a much lower ownership than Cook at 7.4%.
The only concern I have for Api is the physical style he plays where he tops the tackle count weekly with an average of 50 tackles per game. You will know when Api might be struggling when coach Ivan Cleary starts carrying Mitch Kenny on the bench as he did late in the season. In his favour is the Origin break both a bye and a less intense period of the season.
He’s so crafty out of dummy half with his 57 run metres, 1.9 tackle breaks and added a key element to the games of Cleary and Luai.
So Korosiau has some great base stats and he will have games like he produced against the Tigers in round 8 (76 points) and Warriors in round 14 (88 points) where the Panthers get on a massive front foot and he has a field day picking off tired markers.
Api will not let you down and as an alternative to everyone with Cook, he is your man.
