NRL Fantasy recommendation - Avoid Jack Hetherington

Jack Hetherington will cost you $325 000 which has him priced at 24 points. With this cheap price along with Luke Thompson out till round 5, 9.7% of fantasy coaches have him as a money maker to start the season. Jack is best known for his game against the Roosters where he went toe to toe with Jared Waerea-Hargreaves last year. Now as a footy fan I loved it, but in regards to fantasy he only scored 24 points in that game where he started at prop for a total of 44 minutes. His stats don’t really improve the further you dig. In 2018 he had an average of 23 points for 31 minutes, in 2019 his average fell to 17 for 25 minutes and 2020 he averaged 26 for a bump up to 45 minutes per game. If he is to start for the dogs in rounds 1-4 and maintain his PPM of 0.52 from games starting at prop last year he would have to play 50 minutes to score just 26 points. If he plays the unlikely 60 minutes he will then score 31. I personally don’t see him getting more than the 50 minutes and therefore 26 points and can’t see why he has such high ownership. It seems many have fallen for a cheap price tag and vacant starting role in the team for 4 weeks. He will not make you enough money to warrant the inclusion and I would suggest to look at others in the MID position such as Stefano Utoikamanu or Connor Watson. I am saying avoid.
