Sources say that Jacob Host has won the role of starting edge ahead of Keaon Koloamatangi. If he can make the most of his opportunity at a breakeven of 34 and very low ownership of 1.2% he offers POD potential.
Despite his inexperience, there is a little bit of data on Host which shows him with a career PPM of 0.56. He didn't lock down a consistent role at the Dragons and in terms of playing on an edge he came away with the following stats.
2020 - 5 starts at second row. 33 points of 55 mins played.
2019 - 7 starts at second row. 35 points of 71 mins played.
A trend has emerged that the starting edges at Souths last year in Jayden Su'a, Bayley Sironen and Ethan Lowe all averaged around 70 minutes when starting. You would assume coach Wayne Bennett would deploy a similar strategy. At his career PPM you would project around a 40 average. In recent charity shield, Host scored 43 from his 63 minutes on field and topped the running metres.
At $354k and a break even of 26 he might be the POD to separate you from your friends and make some early cash.
